Happy Friday! I hope it's going swimmingly, even if it is Friday the 13th...of October. Shudder.
Here are some favorites of mine from the past week. I hope you'll share whatever you've been loving in the comments!
Reading: Scrappy Little Nobody last week really got me hooked on comedic nonfiction, because last night I started Aziz Ansari's Modern Romance, and I already love it. I saw him speak about this book at a conference (at, like, eight in the morning, which was weird because it was still basically a comedy show) a few years ago, and I've wanted to pick it up ever since. So far, so funny.
Thinking: If you loved Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy as much as I did (as a kid and as an adult -- I may or may not have reread them all a few years ago), you will be equally pumped about this NYT profile. Pullman's coming out with a new trilogy based on that quintessential heroine, Lyra Belacqua. I also loved peeking into Pullman's life, quirks, and superstitions.
Anticipating: If you missed my last Instagram post, this will be news! I have been working with a brilliant friend who has started a company, Girls & Co, which offers a new line of dolls featuring smart, ambitious, talented characters. I'm so glad she asked me to write the accompanying books for her dolls, and our newest one is now available for pre-order. Check it out here!
Making: I've been making a lot of this salad recently, and it is so good. Full of nutty farro, literally nutty pistachios, herbs, veggies, and fragrant herbs. Delicious and feels pretty healthy, too!
Playing: My husband and I have been planning our honeymoon all week, which has gotten me incredibly excited. We are leaving in just under six weeks and will be traveling to Malta, Austria, Germany, and France. If you have any recommendations, leave me a comment or shoot me an email at bostonbookworm22@gmail.com!
Happy weekend! :)
